ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course This course will provide a brief overview of the fundamentals, codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318, regarding the construction of structural concrete formwork, embeds and joints.  Topics will include a review of the requirements for concrete formwork, embeds, and joints. ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course 0.1 CEU’s  This course will provide a brief overview of the codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318, regarding the placement of reinforcing steel used in the construction of structural concrete. Topics will include minimum spacing, standard hooks, seismic hooks, crossties, reinforcement development, splices and bundled reinforcement.  Videos are included for specific review of key topics. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the ACI 318 requirements for the placement of reinforcing steel. Identify the clear spacing requirements for reinforcing steel bars. Recognize the length and bend diameter requirements for standard hooks, stirrups, ties and hoops. Topics will include reinforcing steel properties, placement, concrete cover, epoxy coatings, welding, welded wire reinforcement, and shear stud reinforcement.  Videos included for specific review of key topics. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the ACI 318 requirements for reinforcing steel fundamentals. Identify the size and grade of reinforcing steel bars. Recognize acceptable reinforcing steel surface conditions including rust and coatings. Identify the tolerances for reinforcing steel placement. Topics will include the requirements for mix proportioning, aggregates, reinforcement, testing, rebound, jointing, curing processes, and strength testing.  Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the ACI 318 requirements for the placement of shotcrete. Understand the basics of shotcrete construction. Understand the reinforcing steel requirements for shotcrete construction. Recognize the different stages of curing and the requirements for each. Topics will include the requirements for pre-placement preparation, best practices during placement, consolidation types, curing practices, cold weather concreting, and hot weather concreting.  Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the ACI 318 requirements for the placement of structural concrete. Understand the importance of workability of concrete in concrete placement. Identify the different types of concrete consolidation. ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course 0.3 CEU’s  This course provides an overview of the special inspection process and includes a review of special inspections, stakeholder’s duties, jurisdictional inspections, special inspection types and alternate products and methods.  The role of the special inspector will be covered including inspection duties prior to arriving and at the project site.  Details of the special inspection requirements are reviewed for the inspector, project owner, building official, and contractor.  Included is a review of the differences in requirements for jurisdictional inspections and special inspections, as well as continuous and periodic special inspections. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the role of the Special Inspector prior to and after arriving on the project site. Understand report documentation including non-compliant items. Understand the duties of the project owner, building official and contractor.
