ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course 0.1 CEU’s 

This course will provide a brief overview of the codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318, regarding the placement of reinforcing steel used in the construction of structural concrete. Topics will include minimum spacing, standard hooks, seismic hooks, crossties, reinforcement development, splices and bundled reinforcement.  Videos are included for specific review of key topics.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the ACI 318 requirements for the placement of reinforcing steel.
  2. Identify the clear spacing requirements for reinforcing steel bars.
  3. Recognize the length and bend diameter requirements for standard hooks, stirrups, ties and hoops.
  4. Identify the different types of splices for reinforcing steel placement.
  5. Understand the requirements for mechanical and welded splices.
  6. Understand the requirements for bundled bars.
