ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course 0.2 CEU’s 

This course will provide a brief overview of the codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318, in regards to the fundamentals for reinforcing steel used in the construction of structural concrete. Topics will include reinforcing steel properties, placement, concrete cover, epoxy coatings, welding, welded wire reinforcement, and shear stud reinforcement.  Videos included for specific review of key topics.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the ACI 318 requirements for reinforcing steel fundamentals.
  2. Identify the size and grade of reinforcing steel bars.
  3. Recognize acceptable reinforcing steel surface conditions including rust and coatings.
  4. Identify the tolerances for reinforcing steel placement.
  5. Identify the proper concrete cover for reinforcing steel in differing settings.
