ICC Preferred Provider Continuing Education Course 0.3 CEU’s 

This course provides an overview of the special inspection process and includes a review of special inspections, stakeholder’s duties, jurisdictional inspections, special inspection types and alternate products and methods.  The role of the special inspector will be covered including inspection duties prior to arriving and at the project site.  Details of the special inspection requirements are reviewed for the inspector, project owner, building official, and contractor.  Included is a review of the differences in requirements for jurisdictional inspections and special inspections, as well as continuous and periodic special inspections.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of the Special Inspector prior to and after arriving on the project site.
  2. Understand report documentation including non-compliant items.
  3. Understand the duties of the project owner, building official and contractor.
  4. Understand the differences between jurisdictional and special inspections.
  5. Become familiar with the risk categories for special inspections.
  6. Understand the difference between continuous and periodic special inspections.
